From 7:30pm-9pm on Monday, February 18th at Roger’s Memorial Chapel on Tulane’s Campus, we have worked with several different Christian groups to sponsor a lecture entitled “Is God Relevent?” by Dr. John Lennox, Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford.

Thursday, February 21st at 6pm we will hold a special service to mark the end of the Rev. Giulianna Cappelletti Gray’s time with us as Chaplain. A reception will follow. All are welcome!

Dear All,

Good morning everyone! What a great Sunday worship we had last night. Our student service is at 6:30pm on Sunday nights, and a home-cooked meal proceeds that at 6pm. You are always welcome to worship with us whether you are interested in weekly worship, just stopping by to check us out, or if you’re exploring what you believe.

**If you are looking for some peace today, we begin our 20 minutes of weekly silent meditation at 11am

An important update from the Chaplain, Rev. Giulianna Gray

I’ve just loved serving as the Episcopal and ELCA Chaplain at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit. I came here right after I finished seminary in 2008, and it has been a wonderful four a half years. Change is now in the air for me and my family, and for the Chapel of the Holy Spirit as well.

My husband, Peter, who also is an Episcopal Priest, has accepted a call to serve as Priest in Charge at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Greenwood, Mississippi. Peter, Joseph, and I will be moving from New Orleans to Greenwood in the end of February. In this region of the Mississippi Delta, there are several churches that do not have a pastor right now, and I am looking forward to discerning a new call to ministry in a new place as well.

My last official Sunday at the Chapel will be Sunday, February 17th, and my last day will sometime in that following week. While I will miss you very much, I’m looking forward to being with the community for the next several weeks to reflect on some of the good times we’ve had and to look together with hope toward the future.

Bishop Morris Thompson, Bishop of Louisiana, plans to appoint another Chaplain. Please pray that God will guide this process. Pray that a new person will be selected to faithfully lead the community at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit, as well as work with all of you to spread the love of God to the campuses of Tulane and Loyola.

A prayer for students taking exams:

God of Peace, giver of all God things, I ask that you might grant me the gift of your peace today. Though I am sometimes overwhelmed by the pressures before me, you are my companion and my guide, and it is you who helps me face the challenges ahead. Fill me with your peace, grant me clarity of mind, and help me to be an instrument of that peace to others who may be suffering today. In the Christ, I pray, Amen.

Come volunteer with us at the Chapel!

On Sunday, October 21st and Sunday, October 28th, we will work together and:

pull weeds
garden
clean out the gutters
organize the shed
do a little painting

Worship is at 10am, lunch with follow, and then we’ll get to work. We hope to see you on one or both Sundays!
