The fifth Sunday of Lent is upon us today. The reading from the Gospel this morning tells the story of Mary of Bethany anointing the feet of Jesus. Jesus affirmed her act of love and devotion, speaking to the way in which devotion matters to God (John 12:1-18)

Even in spite of the rush toward Spring Break, we invite you to include devotional time in your lives. We welcome you to worship with us  for the next 2 weeks as we journey with Christ toward Easter:

Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Friday, Sat – 5:30pm Evening Prayer for Haiti (this WILL continue throughout Spring Break)

Sunday, March 21st - Holy Eucharist 10am and 7pm

Thursday, March 25th – Centering Prayer 5pm (simply 20 min. of silence)

We’ve partnered with the ceramics area of the Newcomb-Tulane      Department of Art to put on this event will span over two evenings!

Thursday, March 18th at 8pm — bowl preview, the start of the silent auction on both master crafted ceramics and Haitian art, and a presentation by Dr. Arlette Delcham giving her first hand-account of relief efforts in Haiti.

Friday, March 19th, at 7pm — large bowl sale of reasonably priced hand-made work combined with a simple meal and time for fellowship and music.

We hope to see you on March 18th and/or March 19th at the Chapel! If you would like to help volunteer to help out with this event or if you have any art you would like to donate to the sale, please let Madeline Shelton, potter and intern here at the Chapel at madeline.shelton@gmail.com or by calling her 512-786-6112.

Saturday: 1-3pm Work Afternoon at the Chapel House

Sunday, January 17th:
10am Holy Eucharist

7pm Holy Eucharist- Student Service resumes!

we did something that may become a tradition here at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit. Following the 10am service, we gathered with James around the piano, toasted with little glasses of sherry, and had a happy ol’ hymn sing.

It was the final Christmas blow-out… we called out requests for Christmas carols.  We sang our hearts out one last time before closing saying goodbye to hymns number 77-115.

Now we’re onto Epiphany… Onto spread this light from the manger out into the world…

We’ll be celebrating the feast of the Epiphany at Christ Church Cathedral this year. We welcome to have you join us for a special service at 6pm on Wednesday, January 6th. Bishop Charles E. Jenkins will preside, and the former presiding bishop will preach.

**Until the start of the Spring Semester, we will have one weekly service of  Holy Eucharist 10am**

Please join us on Christmas Eve!

December 24th, 5pm Holy Eucharist

Advent Lessons was simply delightful. It is always lovely to have the morning congregation and the students worshiping together.

The morning congregation gives the Chapel the gift of tradition and constancy. Lessons & Carols has become a time-honored tradition here.

Last night reminded me of the gift it is to be one of the multitude that is breathing new life into our ancient faith. Together, we sang ancient hymns, we exchanged the peace, and we ate so many foods that had been lovingly prepared for our celebration.

Thanks to all who gave of themselves to make last night so special for us.

Now onto finals! Blessings to you all in your studies and preparations.

Come by the Chapel for refreshment during finals week. More details to soon follow-
